Designer Notes

Reasons for the new design of HTPC 7000B

  • Shorten the total case depth to 322mm / 12.7" to fit all home entertainment cabinet

  • Strengthen the case body by using 1.0mm SECC steel

  • Support full standard components such as 11" in card length video card

Offer an affordable stylish AV looking case

Again, we achieve the best balances on size, functions, cost and simple design. It looks like a AV device, definitely not a PC, not even close.

FAQ

  • I don't see how you install 3 X 3.5" HDDs? Can you show me where they are?

To fully utilize the three placements; here are some tips on selecting the Optical Drive and Motherboard limitation on the optical drive selection

    1. Select the short optical drive like below picture;

    2. Avoid the 24pin Power Connector placed on the front edge of the motherboard

  • What is static LCD display "Home Theater PC"?

It is a non-programmable LCD display that used as a power indicator. When you turn on the system, it lights up and displays "HOME THEATER PC" like below picture

Can be upgraded by the PRO-LCD - Blue text 20X2 Programmable LCD display module with Internal USB connector.

  • What do you mean to select short optical drive?

The 5.25" Bay Optical Drive (Bluray drive; DVD burner etc...) has different length (depth); see sample picture below; one of the HDD placement is right behind the optical drive; please select the short Optical Drive if you plan to utilize the third HDD in your system build. We will improve the case design on the second generation to resolve this limitation on the optical drive selection.

  • What is the tiny little window on the center of the face panel?

We reserve a spot for end user to add their DIY IR receiver behind the panel (2 screw holes) if you are planning to incorporate your own IR receiver there so that you can control your system with an IR remote.

  • Why there is a PSU (140mm) limitation for HTPC 7000B?

The 140mm PSU will provide more room for cable management due to the short depth of the case.

  • What is the maximum clearance on the CPU heatsink and Video Card Length?

    • CPU Heatsink height is <5.2"

    • Video Card Length is < 11.5"

    • Limitations exist for some cards that required PCI E connection and customized heatpipe. See sample below.
